Brown is one of that special breed of author/illustrators that make growing up special – and make us jealous of kids who grew up in the 00s with his work. He’s written almost a dozen books, many of which are on their way to becoming classics of the genre, if they’re not there already, and he’s won a bazillion awards. A respected lecturer and teacher, Brown has also done editorial work for Rolling Stone, The New Yorker and lettering and artwork for Warner Bros, Atlantic and Capitol records.
speakers_calefbrown_01b Calef Brown is a well respected Enthusiologist with a small but thriving private practice in a cactus and flower garden, which is very convenient because his diet consists mainly of greenery. He likes to chew the scenery, and will often eat a cedar tree at teatime, followed by key lime pie. By the by, Mr. Brown has won acclaim and awards for the non-ordinariousness of his artwork and writing. His illustrations have popped up in Time, Newsweek, Rolling Stone, The New Yorker, and lots of other fancy publicationals and he has created book covers, billboards, murals and packaging for a number of thriving concerns. Calef has also penned and illustrated many celebrated picture books including Polkabats and Octopus Slacks, Hallowilloween, Boy Wonders, and Flamingos on the Roof, which perched itself atop the New York Times bestseller list. He lives with his family in beautiful Vancouver, Canada.
