Mr. Alan Clarke is an Irish illustrator operating with a very distinct style, reflecting 1800′s figures and narratives involving dark and mysterious characters and theatrics. His process of illustration is very much an iterative one involving traditional, hand drawn / painted art work, scanning, digital manipulating, then printing and working traditionally on the work again.
Clarke is a member of the Illustrators Guild of Ireland, his portfolio there states “Alan Clarke’s world is fantastical, beguiling and darkly humourous, at once dreamlike and nightmarish…” We’d tend to agree with that!
