OFFSET is delighted to announce a new collaboration with innovation giants Accenture, with a dedicated stage over the three days packed full of talks, panels and discussions. Entitled Innovation by Design, each day is jam pack with amazing keynotes, stimulating panel discussions and industry insight.
We decided the best thing to do is to give you the low down for each day so here it goes!
Friday kicks off at 12pm sharp with 2016 Top Trends : Culture and Experience, with Andrew Beckley. In 2016, design will empower people, giving them a sense of control over their bodies and environments. Regional Design Strategy Lead at Fjord, Andrew is a pioneer of rapid innovation methods, who thrives off solving design challenges with a clear and creative approach. This talk will focus on innovation and design and how it will fuel all aspects of our social and private lives, and play a role in how we deal with the everyday as a society and as individuals. We hope this talk on trends will motivate, inspire and provide actionable insights to help businesses and society move forward in the coming year.
At 1pm, we are delighted to welcome Chirryl-Lee Ryan who will explore the State of Design. Digital design is unrecognisable from the last century. What has changed? Where is design in 2016? What’s next? This is a pretty big topic to cover but we think Chirryl-Lee at Fjord has it covered.
After lunch we have Design & Cognitive Agents, a very exciting panel discussion from leading industry experts. On this panel we are looking at all things artificial Intelligence. It’s back and this time it’s ubiquitous. We have Connor Upton from Accenture, Padraig Mannion who is Lead Designer at IBM and Director of Product Design at Intercom, Emmet Connolly who will chat about how the design community responding. Very Ex-Machina we think.
The panel following is a bit more tangibly and called Spaces for Innovation. What kind of physical spaces provide the best environments for innovation to flourish? This panel discussion, explore the role of design in stimulating creativity and growth in a variety of workplaces, communities and in homes. The panel will look at how to design a space that’s both functional and inspiring, focussing on the elements of a successful environment: one that fosters creativity and innovation while also being practical for those working in and managing the space. Emma Curley, Perch and Designgoat will explore these topics with Andrew Beckley moderating.
Our final keynote for the day will be an interesting one for designers and non-designers alike, it’s called How to sell design (to non-designers). Innovation usually gets called on when we’re worried that Strategy, join Eva Maguire, Head of Design & Innovation at IMI, as she explores the relationship between innovation and design within business. Looking at both the value of design, key drivers and approaches to design we highly recommend this talk.
