We are thrilled to announce the official line up of the OFFSET Festival 2016, one of the world’s leading conferences for the design and creative industries, which inspires more than 2,500 attendees every year. The three-day event will take place in our beloved Bord Gáis Energy Theatre, on the 8th, 9th and 10th of April. We’re proud to bring onto the Irish scene the best of Irish and International talent. So we thought we’d give you the low down on what to expect at OFFSET Day One.
We all know at this stage how busy the first day is and we advise everyone to get down to Grand Canal early. After the registration at 9 am, we will welcome our first speaker back to the motherland: Stephen Kelleher, Irish illustrator and designer based in Brooklyn. For over 10 years, Stephen has been working with major clients such as Google and Diesel, creating unique designs through a wide array of materials from Play-Doh to wood block.
Reed + Rader are going to be up next, transporting the OFFSET audience into a virtual reality experience through 3D modeling, game design programming and all you need to know about digital art.
After Reed + Rader’s futuristic experience, Rothco will bring us back to reality and reveal the ins and outs of how an independent company became the lead creative agency internationally for the likes of taxi app Hailo, Heineken and AIB. We are expecting some great insights from the Rothco dream team.
At 2pm we will go on a break, where you can take your time to enjoy a delicious coffee at 3Fe and Friday treats (watch out for the doughnuts), try out screen printing at our Damn Fine Print stand, or just take a stroll around the docks, we’re hoping for sun.
At 3pm, we will be back to greet multi-disciplinary artist Robert Ballagh; an Irish icon, set designer, acclaimed painter and activist. Mr. Ballagh is also a member of the prestigious Aosdána with over 40 years of experience in the arts scene.
The in-house creative agency at Channel 4 will join us after and we are expecting big things from them. 4Creative have the power to captivate crowds with their risky socially engaging productions that aim at provoking the audience; so we can’t wait to hear your reactions to their OFFSET talk.
Previous OFFSET London speaker, Morag Myserscough will bring the penultimate talk to us. Morag is a designer and an artist in turning entire public spaces into colorful installations that are able to connect individuals to the lifeless concrete of cities. Her OFFSET London presentation left our audience re-energized and full of enthusiasm.
The honours of closing the first day at OFFSET will be left to Mr. Bingo. Defined by some, as a trolling designer, whether you find his art “rude” or entertaining, we love Mr. Bingo’s dark humour and we can’t wait for him to add some comic relief to our day.
We hope you will join us to carry on the creative conversation that comes from OFFSET Day One around the corner at The Ferryman Pub and then to the AFTERPARTY- to be announced soon.
As we move into our 7th year, we are reminiscing about previous OFFSETs; it is certainly peculiar to hear what the previous OFFSET speakers recall as their most memorable moment at the festival. Design icon Louise Fili remembers how everyone from OFFSET kept apologising about the bipolar Dublin weather.
You can watch her talk below and get your tickets here and be ready to get inspired.
